Initial Site Surveys

  • Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA)

  • Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRA) for bats

  • UKHab Habitat Surveys

These early surveys help identify the ecological features of your site, highlight potential constraints and opportunities, and guide what further work might be needed for planning applications.

Ecology and Bat Surveys

Covering sites across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex, we usually start with a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal. From there, we recommend mitigation, ecological enhancements, and if necessary, we conduct further targeted surveys for protected species:

  • Badgers

  • Bats (roost inspections & activity surveys)

  • Birds

  • Dormice

  • Great crested newts

  • Widespread reptiles species

  • Otters

  • Water voles

  • Invertebrates

  • Hedgehogs & other national and local priority species

These surveys ensure projects comply with wildlife legislation and avoid impacts on sensitive species.

Support for Ecological Consultancies

If you are an ecological consultancy, developer or homeowner in need of a Bat Mitigation Class Licences (BMCL), please get in touch. We work with Natural England on site registrations on a weekly basis during the survey and mitigation seasons and have a good working relationship with the Low Impact team.

We also hold Natural England survey class licences for dormice, great crested newts.

Habitat & Vegetation

  • Phase 1 Habitat Surveys

  • UKHab Classification

We use modern, recognised systems to map habitats and assess ecological value - forming the basis of Biodiversity Net Gain calculations and long-term management plans.

Licensing & Mitigation

  • European Protected Species licence applications (Natural England)

  • Bat Mitigation Class Licences (low impact)

  • Habitat creation, restoration & enhancement plans
